End User License Agreement
The terms under which you may install and use Bucketeer for macOS.
Application — Bucketeer for macOS, including its Finder extension (the “App”) Publisher — DigitalFreedom, a brand of DigitalFreedom Global LLC, 30 N Gould St, Ste N, Sheridan, WY 82801, United States Contact — hello@digitalfreedom.co.za · https://digitalfreedom.co.za Effective date — 2 November 2026
0. How this Agreement applies to Bucketeer
- Bucketeer is distributed exclusively through the Apple Mac App Store, including TestFlight for pre-release builds. Section 17 (Apple App Store — additional terms) applies to every copy.
- The App is free to download. Bucketeer Pro is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase. It does not renew and is never charged again (section 4).
- The App runs on your Mac. The Publisher operates no server and no user account for it (section 8).
- The App contains open-source components, listed in the Open Source Notices (section 3).
1. Acceptance
By installing or using the App you agree to this Agreement. If you do not agree, do not install or use the App.
1.1 Global scope
The App is available in every storefront of the Mac App Store. This Agreement applies to all users regardless of where they download or use the App. Mandatory consumer-protection and other statutory rights of your country of residence remain unaffected and prevail where they are more protective.
2. The App
Bucketeer is a macOS application for browsing, transferring, synchronising and mounting objects in S3-compatible storage and Azure Blob Storage. It works with storage accounts that you set up and pay for yourself with the respective provider.
3. License grant
Subject to this Agreement, the Publisher grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App on Apple-branded Macs that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules of the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
Open-source components bundled with the App are governed by their own licenses, which this Agreement does not restrict. See Open Source Notices in the About window.
The source code of the App is published separately under the Source-Available License (see License in the About window). That license, not this Agreement, governs the source code.
4. Free tier, trial and Bucketeer Pro
The App is free to download. The free tier lets you browse, upload, download, rename and delete objects in all your storage accounts.
Bucketeer Pro adds Mount as Drive, the sync engine (sync jobs and watch folders), copying between storage accounts and the menubar mode. A time-limited trial of Bucketeer Pro may be offered; its length and conditions are shown in the App before it starts. When the trial ends, the App returns to the free tier. Nothing is charged for the trial.
Product — Bucketeer Pro (Lifetime) Type — one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase; no subscription, no renewal Price — shown in the App and the App Store before purchase, in your local currency Family Sharing — enabled
The purchase is processed by Apple. In the EU/EEA, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Türkiye Apple sells in its own name; in all other storefronts Apple sells as the Publisher’s agent. Refunds are requested from Apple at https://reportaproblem.apple.com. Statutory rights against the seller remain unaffected.
The Publisher may change the price for future buyers. A price change does not affect a purchase you have already made.
5. Restrictions
You must not:
- reverse-engineer, decompile or disassemble the App, except where mandatory law permits it;
- circumvent the in-app purchase, the trial or other technical
protection measures of the App; - use the App to access storage accounts you are not authorised to use;
- use the App in breach of applicable law or the rights of others.
6. Your responsibilities
The App acts on your instructions against storage accounts that you configure. You are responsible for:
- the credentials you enter and the permissions they grant;
- the objects you upload, change, move or delete. Deleting, renaming, moving and mirror sync with deletion can remove data at your provider immediately; the App’s trash keeps a local copy only within the limits you set;
- the charges your storage provider bills you for storage, requests and data transfer. The bandwidth limit in the App limits throughput only, not provider charges;
- your encryption keys. If you use client-side encryption and lose or delete the key, the encrypted objects cannot be decrypted. The Publisher has no copy of your keys;
- presigned links you share. Anyone with such a link can access the object until the link expires;
- keeping your own backups.
7. Third-party storage providers
The App connects only to storage endpoints that you configure. Each provider operates under its own terms and privacy policy. The Publisher has no control over them and is not responsible for their availability, performance, charges or data handling.
8. Data and privacy
The App processes your data on your Mac and sends it only to the storage endpoints you configure and, for the purchase, to Apple. The Publisher does not receive your credentials, listings or files. The Privacy Policy in the About window describes the details.
9. Updates and support
Updates are provided through the Mac App Store. Support is available at https://support.apps.digitalfreedom.co.za. For consumers in the EU/EEA, the conformity and update obligations of Directive (EU) 2019/770 apply and are not excluded by this Agreement.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. The Publisher does not warrant that the App is free of errors or works without interruption.
Nothing in this section excludes warranties, guarantees or rights that cannot be excluded under mandatory law. For consumers in Australia and New Zealand, section 16.5 applies and prevails.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Publisher is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits or business, and its total liability is limited to the amount you paid for Bucketeer Pro.
These limitations do not apply to: (a) damages caused intentionally or by gross negligence; (b) injury to life, body or health; (c) liability under mandatory product-liability law; (d) the culpable breach of an essential contractual obligation, where liability for slight negligence is limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this kind of contract; (e) any other liability that cannot be limited under mandatory law.
12. Not for high-risk use
The App is not intended for safety-critical systems, medical devices, the control of critical infrastructure or similar uses where a failure could cause death, injury or severe damage.
13. Termination
You can end this Agreement at any time by deleting the App. The Publisher may end it if you materially breach it and, where the breach can be remedied, do not remedy it within a reasonable period after being asked to. A Bucketeer Pro purchase cannot otherwise be revoked by the Publisher. Mandatory statutory rights remain unaffected.
14. Export and sanctions
You must comply with applicable export control and sanctions laws.
15. Governing law and jurisdiction
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States of America, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of habitual residence (Art. 6(2) Rome I Regulation and equivalent rules).
Consumers may bring proceedings before the courts of their country of habitual residence and can be sued by the Publisher only there. For users who are not consumers, the courts of Sheridan County, Wyoming, have exclusive jurisdiction.
16. Regional provisions
16.1 European Union and EEA
Mandatory consumer rights, including statutory warranty rights and the rights under Directive (EU) 2019/770, are not excluded. Changes to this Agreement do not take effect against you by silence or continued use alone.
16.2 United States
Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liabilities. In those states the limitations apply to the maximum extent permitted.
16.3 United Kingdom
Nothing in this Agreement excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 remain unaffected.
16.4 Canada
Provincial consumer-protection laws may override parts of this Agreement.
16.5 Australia and New Zealand
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled:
- to cancel your service contract with us; and
- to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value.
You are also entitled to choose a refund or replacement for major failures with goods. If a failure with the goods or a service does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the failure rectified in a reasonable time. If this is not done you are entitled to a refund for the goods and to cancel the contract for the service and obtain a refund of any unused portion. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage from a failure in the goods or service.
The notice above qualifies every warranty disclaimer and limitation of liability in this Agreement and prevails over them. Apple acts as the Publisher’s agent in these territories, so the guarantees are owed by the Publisher.
16.6 Other jurisdictions
Where local mandatory law restricts a provision of this Agreement, the provision applies only to the extent permitted.
17. Apple App Store — additional terms
17.1 Acknowledgement. This Agreement is concluded between you and the Publisher only, not with Apple. The Publisher, not Apple, is solely responsible for the App and its content.
17.2 Scope of license. The license is a non-transferable license to use the App on any Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules of the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, except that the App may be accessed and used by other accounts associated with you via Family Sharing or volume purchasing.
17.3 Maintenance and support. The Publisher is solely responsible for maintenance and support of the App. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance and support services for the App.
17.4 Warranty. The Publisher is solely responsible for any product warranties, express or implied by law, to the extent not effectively disclaimed. If the App fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price for the App to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the App.
17.5 Product claims. The Publisher, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App or your possession and use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the App fails to conform to legal or regulatory requirements, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar legislation.
17.6 Intellectual property. If a third party claims that the App or your possession and use of it infringes that third party’s intellectual property rights, the Publisher, not Apple, is solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.
17.7 Legal compliance. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated by the US Government as a terrorist-supporting country, and that you are not listed on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
17.8 Developer name and address. Questions, complaints and claims relating to the App: DigitalFreedom Global LLC, 30 N Gould St, Ste N, Sheridan, WY 82801, United States · support@digitalfreedom.co.za · https://support.apps.digitalfreedom.co.za
17.9 Third-party terms. You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using the App, including the terms of your storage providers.
17.10 Third-party beneficiary. Apple and Apple’s subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this Agreement. Upon your acceptance of it, Apple has the right to enforce this Agreement against you as a third-party beneficiary.
18. Severability and changes
If a provision of this Agreement is invalid, the rest remains in effect. When this Agreement changes, the effective date at the top changes and the App Store release notes of the release concerned mention it.
