Frequently asked questions

Is Bucketeer a CloudMounter alternative?

For S3 and Azure Blob Storage, yes, with a browser window and sync jobs in addition to Finder drives. CloudMounter covers consumer clouds such as Dropbox and Google Drive that Bucketeer does not.

Can CloudMounter sync folders?

Its vendor describes CloudMounter as a virtual drive rather than a sync tool. Bucketeer Pro has sync jobs that copy, move or mirror on a schedule or when a folder changes.

Do both encrypt on the client?

Yes. CloudMounter uses client-side AES-256, Bucketeer AES-256-GCM per bucket with the key in the macOS Keychain. Encrypted buckets cannot be mounted in Bucketeer 1.0.
